The device has a pivotable switching part i.e. shift lever (1), whose homogeneous switching movement is changed into a non uniform switching movement by an internal switching element by coupling the shift lever with a coupling lever (6) to produce a non uniform switching lever transmission ratio. The shift lever and the coupling lever are coupled with each other in a form-fit manner over a curved path (7) i.e. connecting rod path. The pivoting lever is guided in the curved path over an attachment element (8).
