Thermal gasification of biomasses comprises carrying out the final drying process in a continuous contact dryer (3); setting a vapor pressure in the drying room, which allows to overcome all flow resistance of the overall process, and regulating the pressure by feeding or blowing off water vapor. An independent claim is included for the synthesis of methanol using synthesis gas produced by the above method, where a synthesis gas from water electrolysis (hydrogen) is added in such an amount that all the carbon is converted to methanol.
