Biomass gasification is one of attractive applications into a small scale of local power generation an oil synthesis by gas-to-liquid (GTL) as a carbon neutral fuel. Then gas cleaning processes are necessary to remove contaminant from raw fuel gas.In this study, adsorption performance of activated cokes was evaluated to simultaneously remove H_2S, COS and NH3 as representative contaminants in the raw fuel gas. The activated cokes produced from coal, which is used industrially for de-SOx and de-NOx, was examined by thermo-gravimetric analyses to reveal the satisfactory adsorption and desorption behavior of H_2S, COS and NH3. The H_2S breakthrough experiment was also conducted in the fixed bed adsorption reactor, and it was confirmed that the activated cokes have an excellent performance to achieve the H2_S removal less than 1 ppm, i.e. a level applicable to fuel cells.
