The method involves supplying respiratory gas from a respiratory gas source to a patient interface. Respiratory gas flow is temporarily measured by the patient interface using a mass flow measurement process. Respiratory gas pressure is temporarily measured, and a measured value of the gas flow is automatically, digitally corrected based on the respiratory gas pressure. Total pressure is calculated from ambient pressure and the respiratory gas pressure. A corrector is formed using a table with stored values. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a respiratory device.
