The cutter has a blade (1) aligned with a free end (1a) for a lawn (5), and a linear drive (4) e.g. electric motor and internal combustion motor, shifted in a continuous upward and downward movement into a cam (3). A rotation movement is converted into a translatory movement by a gear drive integrated in the drive. A wheel (6) is arranged at the cutter and height adjustable. An elongate grip element (7) i.e. telescopic handle, is length adjustable. Orientation of the blade to the lawn is adjusted in an angle of 45 degree to 90 degree, where the blade is fixed by connection elements.
