The brake element is connected with a fastening device (24) that fastens a lowerable frame of an overhead compartment at a structure-firm component. The brake element is subjected to compression force by a side wall of the lowerable frame and a viewing screen such that relative movement between a connection element (34) and the frame is braked by cooperation of the brake element with the side wall and the screen, when the device is not actuated.
