The internal combustion engine has a cylinder head (10), which closes the operating cylinder. An inlet valve (18) and an outlet valve (20) for each operating cylinder are attached in closed condition at a valve-seat ring (22). A combustion chamber insert element (24) is provided in the operating cylinder, which partly covers the operating cylinder, which is faced to a wall of the cylinder head. The combustion chamber insert element takes a valve-seat ring, and is manufactured from an aluminum alloy.
