The folding top assembly has a hood covering and a folding top structure (14) with a roof frame (20) having a front area and an elastically deformed clamping element (31,32,33,34). A hood (70) is fitted to the top structure which supports the elastically deformed clamping element that extends from a front area of the roof frame to a rear area of the folding top assembly, such that the top structure is piled up or folded with the hood covering.
