The attenuator (7) has an attenuator cylinder in which a shaft is inserted by an open end of the attenuator cylinder. The shaft moves back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the attenuator cylinder. A friction element is provided which is coupled with the shaft on one side and aligns at the inner surface of the attenuator cylinder on another side. An independent claim is included for a washing machine with a housing.
