Agent for coloring keratin fibers, comprises at least one dye starting product and a browning product, where the browning product is obtained by heating sugar and exhibits a pH-value of 7-14, preferably 9-12. Independent claims are included for: (1) use of a browning product as a staining dye for hair care products in the form of emulsion, gel and/or alcoholic solution; and (2) coloring keratin fibers, comprising mixing the agent with an oxidant preparation, applying the obtained mixture on the fibers and rinsing after an impact time.
