Preparing a carbonaceous energy source, preferably in the form of pellets (P) or briquettes, where the carbon carrier is crushed in equally-sized carbon particles and is then processed to a pressed fuel material in a pelleting apparatus (1) or a pressing plant for use as energy carrier, comprises: (a) crushing a hydrocarbon carrier in a crushing apparatus; (b) mixing the hydrocarbon carrier with the crushed carbon carrier in a predefined quantity ratio; and (c) processing the resulting mixture of hydrocarbon- and carbon-carrier to a condensed energy carrier in a predefined form. An independent claim is included for an energy carrier with crushed and condensed carbon particles, which are produced by the process, where the energy carrier consist of a mixture in a predefined quantity ratio of at least one carbon- and hydrocarbon-carrier in the form of crushed particles, which are pressed and bonded to pellets.
