The machine has a pressing part for supporting a fibrous material web (1) e.g. paper web, for de-watering the web. A sheet forming unit is provided for sheet formation such that the web is supported by a water-permeable strap (10). The part has a pressing gap, through which the web with water-receiving de-watering straps (6-8) i.e. continuously rotating press felts, runs. An additive for de-watering of the web in the pressing gap is applied on a side of the web before the pressing gap. The additive is applied on both sides of the web. The additive is water soluble and is formed by a polymer.
