The pump (10) has a drive shaft (14) supported at a support (28) in a main housing (11) that is made of plastic. The support has a metallic outer ring inserted into a support opening (13). A high pressure operating space (18) is formed in a steel high pressure housing (12a). The operating space is limited by a pump piston (16), where a high pressure line (19) branches off from the space. The high pressure housing with an extension (12b) is engaged in a retaining opening (15) at the main housing. The main housing along with the openings is formed from injection molding process.
