The method providing measuring electrodes (306a-306d) in a measuring electrode arrangement (301) for interaction with a counter electrode, where capacity of the measuring electrodes and the counter electrode comprising measuring capacitors (316a-316d) depends on a distance (d) of an object (302) from the respective measuring electrode. Parameters (304) of the object are determined by the measuring capacitors, whose capacity is influenced by the object. A relative speed of the object to the measuring electrode arrangement is determined by the measuring capacitors. An independent claim is also included for a device for capacitive measurement of distance between an object and a measuring electrode.
