The method involves reducing nitrogen oxides contained in exhaust gas by supplying auxiliary agent (24) to an internal-combustion engine (10), where the auxiliary agent includes aqueous solution of active substance i.e. ammonia, or precursor substance i.e. urea, for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides. Auxiliary fluid e.g. diesel, is provided in the auxiliary agent, where melting point of the fluid is lower than that of the aqueous solution. Fuel (28) is supplied to the engine from a fuel tank (26) that is exclusively refueled with fuel. An independent claim is also included for a device for post-treatment of exhaust gas of an internal-combustion engine.
