The pump (1) has a pump assembly (13), and a drive shaft (6) comprising a cam (9) that is attached to the pump assembly. The pump assembly has a piston (16) displaceable along an axis (17) of the pump assembly and a sliding unit working together with the cam. Two minimum lubrication gap areas are provided at a sliding surface of the sliding element with respect to a rotation direction (36) of the drive shaft. Angles to the axis of the pump assembly are preset for the gap areas in the rotation direction and in direction opposite to the rotation direction of the drive shaft, respectively.
