The sensor (100a,100b,100c,100d) has a holding element for attachment of the sensor on a vehicle surface. The holding element has a connection contact for contacting the vehicle surface or an electrically conductive layer on the vehicle surface. An electrically conductive shielding layer is arranged opposite the vehicle surface or the electrically conductive layer in an area of the vehicle surface in an electrically insulated manner. Impact detecting signals are provided by using two connection contacts. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for triggering a restraining device of a vehicle; (2) a computer program for executing a restraining device triggering method; and (3) a control unit.
