The compressor (10) has a compressor housing (12) provided with two cylinder banks (20A, 20B), where the cylinder banks comprise two cylinders (22A, 22B) in which a refrigerant is compressed. A shut-off valve (48A) is provided for interruption of the refrigerant supply to one of the cylinders (22A). Another shut-off valve (48B) is provided for interruption of the refrigerant supply to a detachable part of the other cylinder (22B), where the shut-off valves are independently operatable. An adapter plate (40) is provided between a valve plate (28B) and a cylinder head (14B).
