Method for verifying tightness of refrigerant- cooling channel in casting component e.g. cylinder head, of internal combustion engine in vehicle, after machining of component, involves determining whether forming gas is found in chambers
The method involves gas-tight sealing of cooling channels of a cylinder head or engine block, and guiding a forming gas i.e. helium, into the cooling channels, where a sealing pressure of the forming gas is selected dependent on a flow cross section. A determination is made whether the forming gas is found in a combustion chamber or the cylinder chamber using a sensor. An engine block sided discharge area of the cooling channel of the cylinder head or a cylinder head sided discharge area of the cooling channel of the engine block is sealed in a gas tight manner via a sealing plate.
