The material has plant leafs and/or tree leaves e.g. leaves fallen from domestic deciduous trees, connected with each other. The tree leaves are originated from the domestic deciduous trees and/or from fruit tress, beech trees, oak trees, lime trees, ash tree and/or maple. The plant leafs are water-proofed. Leaf layers are aligned parallel to a base plane of the plate-shaped plant-derived material. The plant leafs are laid parallel to one another or one above the other. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a firm, plate-shaped plant-derived material.
