Xanthene derivative (I) is new. Xanthene derivative of formula (I) is new. R 1-R 4A; A : alkyl or (hetero) aryl (both optionally substituted), alkoxy, cyano, hydroxy, halo, isocyanate, carboxy, sulfonyl or its derivative or H; R 5-R 10 : A, polyethylene or jeffamine; X : T; T : nucleofugal leaving group, which is sulfonate, sulfate, phosphate or phosphonate or biomolecule; and Y 1T, jeffamine, polyethylene or alcohol or amine (both optionally substituted). Independent claims are also included for: (1) the preparation of the xanthene derivative (I); (2) a xanthan conjugate obtained by reacting the xanthan derivative with a biomolecule; and (3) a kit comprising the xanthan derivative (I) and optionally at least one auxiliary material.
