The turbocharger has a rotor provided with a compressor part (1) and a turbine part (2), where the rotor is radially and/or axially mounted only at axial ends in a pivotable manner. The compressor part and the turbine part are directly interconnected to a combined compressor and a turbine wheel. A spacer ring (9) is arranged between a compressor housing part (7) and a turbine housing part (8) in a region of a radial plane for separation of the compressor housing part and the turbine housing part, where the spacer ring is designed as a bearing element.
