The method involves segmenting reconstruction data set of an object according to attenuation classes to determine segmenting information. Material path length and/or material population density for each class is determined. An effective material path length and/or material population density for each image element is determined by averaging all radiation paths. A correction value for each element is determined by considering an energy distribution-specific correction table. The set is corrected by additive or multiplicative application of the values to respective reconstruction data.
