The suspension strut (1) has a damper cylinder (2), and a damper piston (3) that is movable in the damper cylinder by a piston rod (4). Helical compression springs (9, 14) are connected with an end of the piston rod and are supported at inset elements (7, 8). A retaining housing (11) extending towards a longitudinal axis of the damping cylinder is arranged at a radially extending base plate (10). The retaining housing comprises spring chambers i.e. cylindrical tubular sections (12, 13), for accommodating the compression springs, where the spring chambers are arranged concentric to each other.
