The exchanger has a header box, and heat exchanger tubes (2) fastened in openings (12) of a tube holder (1). Longitudinal edge strips of the tube holder have a folding with a bend of 180 degrees. The folding for a material reinforcement is designed as double material thickness of longitudinal edges. The tube holder is produced from an endless metal strip. A recess is arranged in the longitudinal edge strips, where the recess is provided in the bend. The recess lies in an outer bending radius of the bend, where the recess is implemented as a line shaped embossing. An independent claim is also included for a method for pre-assembly of a fully metal heat exchanger.
