The engine (1) has a charging device (6) increasing a pressure level in a fresh air line (5) for supplying fresh air to a combustion chamber (3) of the engine. A charge-air cooler (11) is coupled with a cooling circuit (12) of the engine, where the cooler is arranged in the fresh air line downstream to the charging device and upstream to the combustion chamber. A thermoelectric transducer (13) has a set of thermoelectric elements (14) that are coupled with the charged fresh air in a heat-transferring manner.
