The device (4) has a mounting bracket (10) for fastening a cover (6). The mounting bracket is displaceable in a vertical direction by a motor drive, and is swivelable around a swiveling axis (12). An upper stroke position of the mounting bracket is provided for cabriolet setting of the cover in an opened position, and a lower stroke position (H1) of the mounting bracket is provided below the upper stroke position for coupe setting of the cover in a closed position. A mechanical stopper (16) limits a travel path of a stroke unit for fixing the different stroke positions. The motor drive comprises a linear drive such as spindle drive. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a cover of a cover storage space of a cabriolet by an adjusting device.
