The turbocharger (1) has an exhaust gas manifold (2a) connected with a high pressure turbine (5a) of a high pressure turbocharger (5) in an exhaust gas guiding manner. The high pressure turbine and a low-pressure turbine (3a) are connected together in an exhaust gas guiding manner. A closing element (16) e.g. flap or rotary valve, is provided in the exhaust gas manifold, so that exhaust gases from different cylinders are separated and guided to the high pressure turbine and another high pressure turbine (4a). A throttle element (8) is arranged in a bypass (7).
