The switchgear i.e. circuit breaker (10), has an electromagnetic triggering system (17) provided with a coil winding, a magnetic circuit and an armature. The electromagnetic triggering system is transferred from an original position to a trigger position during occurrence of a determined overcurrent. The electromagnetic triggering system opens a contact point of the switchgear directly and/or over a switch latch (11). A close magnetic coupling is provided within the electromagnetic triggering system such that large force acts on the armature during small overcurrents.
