The method involves causing plastic deformation of a plate of a housing cover (2), so that the plate is in mechanical engagement with a housing base (3). An edge section of the plate is brought in mechanical engagement with the housing base. The plate is deformed around an axis (4), which stays perpendicular to a device plane and runs parallel to main surfaces of the housing cover and the housing base. The plate is formed as a T-shaped plate with a cross-beam. The plate is guided through a recess of the housing base. An independent claim is also included for a control device for a motor vehicle comprising housing parts.
