The device has a supply line (5) integrated into a pump (14) and attached to a tank (16) for receiving a medium i.e. aqueous urea solution (8), which is injected into an exit gas line by a controllable injection valve. The medium flowing into the supply line in a direction (26) is tempered by another medium. The latter medium flows in a return line in another direction (28), where the return line is arranged in a passage area (24) of the supply line and another supply line. The supply line forms a counter flowing device with a return pipe (2).
