The system (1) has an ultrasonic transmitter (2) comprising an electromechanical transducer element (7) that converts electrical signals into acoustic signals. The ultrasonic transmitter comprises a center axis (13), where a measuring tube axis of a measuring tube (5) and the center axis lie in a first plane that is perpendicular to a second plane. A third plane is formed perpendicular to the first and second planes. Projections perpendicular to the second plane of ultrasonic receivers (3, 4) are formed symmetrically to an intersection point (17) of the three planes.
