The camera has an endoscope and/or video endoscope (20) connected to a lens (11), and a light conductor (32) arranged in an endoscope tube (22). The endoscope guides a light, which is generated by a light source, from the light conductor to a distal end of the tube, for illuminating an object, where the distal end is adjacent to the object. The light source is in the form of LED (30) that is arranged within a camera and/or video endoscope head (10). The light is supplied to optical fibers (23) arranged in the tube over a light collecting optics (31) i.e. glass body, and the light conductor.
