Method for reducing image noise in three dimensional-computed tomography image data, involves producing data set using nonlinear, edge-receiving filter on another data set, and combining former and third data sets
The method involves determining three dimensional-computed tomography (3D-CT) image data produced by 3D scanning of an examination object i.e. beating heart of patient. The scanning of the object partly overlaps along a system axis such that the scanned data are redundantly present. First and second data sets are determined from the 3D-CT image data based on redundant and non-redundant scanning data, respectively. A third data set is produced using a nonlinear, edge-receiving filter on the second data set. The first and third data sets are combined to noise-reduced 3D-CT data.
