The method involves movably coupling an upper rail (14) and a lower rail (12) with each other by bearing elements, and providing a finite element model for describing a vehicle seat arrangement. Finite element analysis is performed based on the model for predicting determined characteristics of the arrangement, and each bearing element is described by elastic connecting elements (40) in the model. A set of parameters is assigned to each elastic connecting element, where the parameters are related to elastic and viscoelastic characteristics of the connecting elements. An independent claim is also included for a system for computer-aided engineering of a vehicle seat arrangement.
