The engine (10') has two V-shaped cylinder banks (12, 14) arranged to each other with cylinders (16', 18'). An intersection point (32) of projections of rotational symmetrical axes (28', 30') of the cylinders is spaced to a projection plane from a rotational axis (26) by a crossed crankshaft (24). A normal vector (34) between the intersection point and the rotational axis has a component (36), which is aligned perpendicularly to the rotational axis and perpendicularly to a vertical axis (Z) of the engine in an assembly position.
