A method for configuring the neighborhood relationships of cells (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) of a cellular mobile network, wherein neighbor relationships are formed between adjacent cells to detect posted mobile terminals and existing connections between mobile terminals and a first cell (1) of the first cell (1) to be passed to an adjacent second cell (3, 4, 5, 6, 7), wherein a connection termination of a connection between a registered mobile terminal and the first cell (1) is detected and wherein a detection of that cell (2) takes place, in which after a connection abort the next connection establishment of the mobile terminal within the second cell (2) of the mobile network, and that a statistical evaluation of a definable minimum number of detected disconnections and connection structures is performed and exceeding a definable pro-rata limit value for disconnections in d the first cell (1) and new connection setups in a particular second cell (2) relative to the total number of acquired data, a new neighborhood relationship is established between the first cell (1) and this second cell (2).
