The method involves storing data files in a data storage management (22) through storing of names in a namespace (40) and through storing of data contents in a dataspace (70). The namespace is stored on a data storage device (14) and divided into lower name spaces. One of the lower name spaces is stored on another data storage device (114) through application of a selection criterion on the lower name spaces. The dataspace is stored on the former data storage device, where parts of the data contents are stored on the latter data storage device at the stored lower name space.
