The switch (14) has a position detection sensor unit (15) detecting a position of an actuating element (16). An activation switch (13) activates the sensor unit and includes an analog sensor (1) i.e. position sensor, for detecting a position change of the actuating element. A sequence control cyclically switches the sensor. An output of the activation switch is connected with an input of a microcontroller (17). The microcontroller switches on and switches off an energy supply for the sensor unit based on a value of a binary output signal (D3) of the activation switch.
