The invention relates to a vending machine for the automated distribution of individual goods (2) to a customer, in particular cartons of drink. Said vending machine comprises a storage area (11, 112) in which goods (2) can be stacked one on top of the other from bottom to top, in the form of at least one stack (20), a dispensing area (13) in which the goods (2) are arranged for dispensing to the customer, and a transport device (3) comprising a catching unit (30, 30', 30''). Said catching unit withdraws the goods that are located on top of the stack (20) from the top of the stack (20), and said transport device (3) transports the withdrawn goods (2) to the dispensing area (13). Said invention is characterised by an improved storage area (11, 112) and an optimised transport device (3) by means of which a dispensing area (13) that is located above the storage area (11, 112) and the transport device (3) provides goods (2) to be withdrawn by the customer.
