The method involves evaluating an output signal, which is generated by a series connection of the sensors within an area of same linear characteristic. Another output signal is generated by another series connection of other sensors within an area of same nonlinear characteristic. The other sensors generate an output signal during an overflow. The output signal of the other sensors is different from the output signal of the previous sensors. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring an overflow of a determined characteristic of modules of a system, particularly of battery cells of a battery system.
