The method involves assigning different capacitance regions delimited from each other by capacitance threshold values based on capacitance. An energy output threshold level is defined. The capacitance threshold values are assigned to the energy output threshold level. Battery cell modules (11) are only operated below the energy output threshold level during energy request from the battery cell modules, where battery cell modules have capacitance of the capacitance threshold value assigned to the energy output threshold level. A switch (12) is controlled by a control device. An independent claim is also included for a battery system.
