The method involves using a longitudinal-gap calender i.e. ValZone(RTM: Not defined) calender, which consists of a metal band, a heating roller and a counter pressure roller. The metal band is guided via guide rollers, and the heating roller contacts the metal band. A longitudinal gap is formed between the metal band and the counter pressure roller, and the heating roller faces away from the counter pressure roller over the metal band. A decorative paper web is inserted into the longitudinal gap. The decorative paper web is heated, smoothed and led out from the longitudinal gap.
