The console (14) has a wireless communication interface (19) e.g. Bluetoothtransceiver and infrared transceiver, and a wired communication interface (20) for bidirectional communication of the console with a household appliance i.e. stove, where the console is attached to a docking station (13). A touch screen (15) is provided at a side for hand input, and a control unit i.e. microcontroller, reads and/or writes media content e.g. purchase lists, in a memory, where the media content is transmitted to a mobile communication device e.g. mobile phone. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a console.
