The monitoring unit (1) has a comparison unit (14) constantly detecting a pressure pattern at a tire of a vehicle i.e. car, by a pressure sensor (10) in a monitoring mode. The comparison unit correlates the pressure pattern with an expected pressure pattern stored in a memory unit (15) to trigger an alarm process between the detected pressure pattern and the expected pattern during determination of a preset correlation degree. The expected pressure pattern is stored in the memory unit as a pattern recognition specification, and the comparison unit is designed as a pattern recognition logic. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a vehicle.
