The press has a plate changing device including a movable conveyor (32) for flattening-out a printing plate (8) by a printing cylinder (1). A four-ridable feed device (37) is provided for flattening-in the printing plate. A control device causes automatic sequence of movements of the conveyor, the feed device and storage compartments (22-24) in an operational mode for flattening-in and flattening-out the printing plate. The automatic sequence of movements is deactivated, and a gradual release of individual work procedures is performed in another operational mode.
