The element (1) has a coupling section (3) by which the element is fixedly connected with a handrail (2) using a fastening element in an installation condition. The coupling section is shiftably and/or pivotably accommodated in a coupling retainer (5) provided at the handrail. The coupling section is friction-engagedly fixable in the coupling retainer by the fastening element. The fastening element projects into the coupling section by a fastening hole. A clamping flange (8') is transferable from a sliding position to a clamping position by the fastening element. An independent claim is also included for a handrail comprising a guidance element.
