The coupling gear has a coupling piece with a lever, which is displaced in the direction of a ratchet at the towing vehicle over a train connection of the towing vehicle. The lever is arranged at another coupling piece in a swiveling position for displacing the ratchet such that a separation of the former coupling piece from the latter coupling piece is unhindered by the movement of the coupling pieces against each other in another displacing position of the lever.
