The method involves detecting an indicator (Ist1) that indicates a future and/or actual condition of an electrical system. A pre-determined consumer (2) is controlled for a partial load operation independent of the detected indicator, and a battery diagnostic module is provided for production of the indicator. The indicator is supplied as control signals to the pre-determined consumer by a data bus line. Electric power steering (EPS) controllers (5, 6) are provided for the pre-determined consumer to which the indicator is supplied as the control signals.
