The device has a control and evaluation unit determining an associated distance value from image point running time. A three-dimensional distance profile is determined for the surroundings. An optics comprises a reflecting deflection element (26), which is formed in such a manner that light is fed to image points (23a) of sensors (23) for determining the image point running time. The light is deflected by surrounding sections (BC, CC) of the detected surrounding, where the surrounding sections are associated for signal processing.
